Problem
The last national household income & expenditure survey is old; its data does not reflect households today and is not enough to update the price basket and poverty indicators.
Current state
Partial estimates from small surveys, and no up-to-date sampling frame covering all fourteen governorates.
Objective
Run the 2027 national household income & expenditure survey on a sample of 24,000 households with electronic data capture and publish the results within six months of the fieldwork.
Expected scope
The sampling frame, questionnaire design, training 600 enumerators, fieldwork on tablets, processing and publication through the national indicators portal.
Expected benefits
Productivity
Updated price basket and poverty indicators
Time & speed
Results published within six months instead of two years
At the initiation gate the national steering committee made classifying the partner bodies’ data under the approved data-protection policy a condition.
Recommendation: Tie any analytics, AI or survey request to the data-governance outputs and name the data owners before evaluation.
