2Justification
The problem or need
The Allouk water station supplies Al-Hasakah city and its countryside with drinking water; it has run at low capacity for years because of pump failures and power cuts, so thousands of families rely on water tankers.
Today
The station runs at 35% of its design capacity, supply averages 40 litres a person a day, and families spend up to 15% of their income on tanker water.
3Objectives
- Rehabilitate the station, its pumps and the transmission line, with back-up solar power, to raise supply to 100 litres a person a day.
Strategic objectives served
- SO-5.1 — Integrated digital government services for citizens
4Expected benefits
| Kind | Benefit |
|---|---|
| Satisfaction | Supply up from 40 to 100 litres a person a day |
| Time saved | Pumping 20 hours a day instead of 6 |
| Cost saving | Families’ tanker spending down about 70% |
